County Meet - IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Good afternoon parents!
The ASA County Championship meet is finally here! Please read this email in its entirety for important information about policies and procedures from ASA regarding the county meet. Please check out this link to get an idea of the meet specifics of the county meet. https://asa.swimtopia.
ADDRESS: Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center Aquatic Center, 750 Ferst Drive, Atlanta, GA
1. Our session is Friday July 1 at 9:30 AM. We should be finished by 1:30, as there is another County session after ours.
2. Our warm-up time is 9:00-9:20 in the boys pool, in lanes 6-8. During warm-ups, swimmers must enter the water feet first and can not use the diving blocks. No diving is permitted during warm-ups, or they will ask us to leave.
3. We are allowed to enter the Aquatic Center no earlier than 8:30. This means our arrival time for the meet is 7:45 on the front lawn of the Campus Recreation Center on Ferst Drive. Once we all arrive, Matthew will go and check in for our team, pick up our team pack, our team credentials, and pay our entry fees. This could take 30-40 minutes, so please be patient. Once Matthew returns, we must all enter the CRC as a team.
4. Once we enter the CRC, we will head to our team seating area: Section 201 Rows A, B, C. Athletes and coaches should remain in our seating location at all times, unless you are swimming or warming up. Do NOT leave our team area to walk around. Our designated team seating located on the diagram that is attached is for our athletes, coaches, and parent helpers that are provided a green credential. Parents should NOT sit with their children in the team areas. There will not be enough room for everyone. Parents without a credential should sit in the general spectator seating located over the competition pools.
5. Parking: The ASA highly recommends parents pre-pay for parking. Please click here to purchase parking! We are session 1 on Friday morning 7/1.
6. We have to arrive by 7:45. If you want to caravan and/or carpool down to the meet, we are meeting in the Lake Forest Swimming pool parking lot at 6:30 am sharp. If you want to decorate your car, we will be doing that as well, so arrive a little early for that.
7. If you have not already done so, please bring a check ASAP or venmo the swim team @lflswimteam to pay your swimmer's entry fee into the meet. The entry fee is $35. The swim team will then write one large check that we will give to the ASA when we arrive at GT.
8. I have attached a diagram for traffic flow for swimmers, workers, and parents. Please remember you can not go onto the pool deck without a proper credential.
9. VOLUNTEER SHIFTS: We are responsible for 3 volunteer positions during the meet. We need 2 people willing to time the boys pool for the entire session. We also need one volunteer to work crowd control. The session can last from 3.5-4 hours. We can also split the session like we do at our meets. If you are interested in timing, please let me know ASAP! If you are interested in being crowd control, please let me know as well. See below for job descriptions. We do need at least 4 parents to help supervise swimmers in our team seating area and parents to help get swimmers to their relays blocks and make sure they are on the correct side of the pool. Please let me know if you are interested in any of these positions.
TIMER JOB DESCRIPTION: Report to the respective bullpen you are timing on the deck near side of the pool (girls by the diving well, boys by the boys pool and interior stairs) no later than 30 minutes before the start of your session. They are responsible for serving as backup timers for the timing equipment. TEAMS NEED TO BRING THEIR OWN STOPWATCH FOR EACH ASSIGNED TIMER. 2 people work each lane, one person works the stopwatch. The person works a backup button for the touchpad that they depress at the FINISH of the race, the button will arm automatically at the start of the race. The button pusher also records the stopwatch time on a clipboard (that we will provide) for each race. Any relief timers that will work the second half of the meet for a team should access the deck by going down the back stairwell behind spectator seating. From there, follow the signs down the lower hallway to the collection area just off the deck near the finish end of the pool. If you are a relief timer, please do not use the stairs on the inside of the pool by the scoreboard, that is for swimmers only to go to their races.
CROWD CONTROL JOB DESCRIPTION: Report to the timing and scoring room no later than 30 minutes before the start of your session) They help keep an eye on the deck and make sure that unauthorized folks are not going into areas where they don't belong. And no, they don't get a badge and a taser, it just wasn't in the budget for this year. If you are being relieved by someone from your team during the meet, please return upstairs to your team area and give your deck credential to your relief worker and tell them where to go and what to do.
10. If you are interested in photography at the meet, please check out this link: https://
11. Teams are NOT ALLOWED to bring large coolers or other items into those seating areas. Smaller coolers or bags that fit underneath one of the seats in the stands are permitted, but items larger than that are not permitted. The ASA advises each athlete to bring their own sports drink/water and any food needed for the meet.
12. Teams are welcome to bring team signs, but we request you use blue painter's tape or zip ties only to hang your signs. Please do not use masking, scotch, duct, or athletic tape to hang signs. Our team is responsible for any damage done by hanging our signs.
13. HEAT SHEETS won't be ready until 36-48 hours before the meet. We will print our own before we travel on Friday. I have attached the psych sheet for you to get an idea of our entry times!
I know this is a lot of information! Luckily, we will all be there together to help each other out! Let me know if you have any questions! GO LIGHTNING!
