Ribbon Issues for exhibition
Sorry for the extra email today. I meant to include this earlier and forgot about it.
Over the past couple of weeks, parents are letting us know that they aren't getting ribbons for all of their events. There are a couple of reasons your swimmer may not be getting ribbons for the number of events they swim.
1. Your swimmer may have been disqualified. If the ASA official marks your swimmer as doing something illegal during their event, it will be marked as "DQ" in the computer, and your swimmer will not receive a ribbon.
2. In an effort to speed up our meet, we will sometimes combine heats when possible if there are open lanes in Heat 1. For example, our 7/8 girls division has 5 relays for both freestyle and medley relays. This week the other team only has one relay. Since there were two lanes available in Heat 1, we moved 2 of our relays from heat 2 to heat 1. To make it fair for the other team though, we have to mark these as exhibition lanes, without the possibility of scoring. When we move any swimmer/relay from heat 2 to a heat 1, they have to be marked as exhibition. When a swimmer/relay is marked as exhibition in a heat 1 race, the computer will not print stickers for ribbons on these races. If this happens to your swimmer, please let us know. We are more than happy to look up the race and give them a ribbon for the place they earned. Just see a board member at Fun Friday, and we will fix it!
Thanks for your understanding! We are excited for a fun meet tomorrow night!
