AWAY Meet at St. Marlo - IMPORTANT

Good evening,

Our meet this week is an AWAY meet at St. Marlo!

Before we get into all the meet details, I wanted to give you an update on our swim caps. The company that we ordered from and always order from still has no ETA on when our caps will arrive. Since our personalized swim caps have not been delivered, they sent us some plain royal blue caps in the meantime. If you need a royal blue swim cap, we will have a table set up at practice on Thursday morning, as well as at the meet on Thursday evening.

Also, we are still in need of one Shift B timer. If you are available, please consider signing up for this volunteer slot. Thanks!

Here is some information that St. Marlo sent to us:

1. The most important thing to note for this meet is that St. Marlo is a gated community and requires a photo ID to be shown during entrance into the neighborhood. We have spoken to other swim teams that have swam at St. Marlo, and they let us know this causes SIGNIFICANT delays. Please plan accordingly.

Address for St. Marlo pool:

7765 St. Marlo Country Club Pkwy

Duluth, GA 30097

2.Parking: Please use either the Old Atlanta or McGinnis Ferry Entrance. Driver must present a valid Driver's license to gain entry. Let them know you are coming for the swim meet. Observe parking signs for roadside parking.

3.Arrival time: Our meet officially starts at 5:30. We are asking all swimmers to arrive by 4:15 at the latest. Considering the delays listed above, please plan accordingly. This will give us enough time to make sure all swimmers are correctly marked with Event, Heat, Lane, Stroke. Our warmup time begins promptly at 4:45.

4.Sparks: Our sparks swimmers will have their mini meet at 5:15. The other team may or may not have their minis swim, but they welcome our littles!

5.Bullpens: We take pop-up tents for our bullpens at away meets. If you signed up for first shift bullpen worker, please arrive at 4:20 to assist the coaches with marking arms. Please set up in between the pool and tennis courts in the grassy area. This area may be accessed via the sidewalk that veers left at the pool gate. Please dispose of all trash, and stay off the tennis courts.

6. Meet Set-up Workers: If you signed up for first shift meet set-up, please plan to arrive by 4:00 to help get all of our tents/tables set up.

7.Timers: St. Marlo also uses an electronic timing system. Again, please remember if you are a Shift B timer, please do not leave your post until the master recorder gets your time written down.

8.Concessions: They have concessions for sale: cash only. Concessions available include pizza, burgers and hot dogs, samasos, candy, chips, ice cream & various soft drinks, water and gatorade.

9.Theme: Remember, our theme for this week is BLUE OUT! Please support our swimmers this week by wearing your BLUE!

10.Weather: Hopefully the weather will cooperate this week, but they do not have indoor shelter down at the pool. In case of inclement weather, families need to wait in their cars. If bad weather rolls in and we cannot start racing by 8pm, we will make a decision as a team. Remember, if any inclement weather comes, you need to come and pick up your swimmer and head to your car. We will be communicating any weather delays/cancellations via the Remind app, so make sure you have that downloaded and ready to go.

Let us know if you have any questions!

Go LIGHTNING!

Sincerely,

Heather Otwell
